07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Riley continues to impress behind the plate. This defensive specialist sits in with good sway and athletic actions. Transfer/exchange is quick as he gains ground toward 2B putting throws on a line on the bag (93 mph) with pop times still under 2. Runners will not want to test his 'cannon' for an arm. With the bat, Horn has a balanced approach with fluid actions and rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is quick as he connects with strength and drives the ball with pop to all parts of the field. Riley is a talented prospect whose skills will play at a high level.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Riley showed primarily as a backstop at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. Offensively he shined, going 4 for 8 with an RBI and a BB, by generating good bat speed with decent barrel accuracy for frequent hard contact. He used his lower half well and got his hands activated in his launch. Behind the plate, he flashed pops in the 1.9 - 2.1 range and received with firm hands. He presented a low target and was soft to block the ball in front with strong mechanics. Riley showed his versatility by jumping on the bump, throwing strikes with his fastball that sat from 78-84 mph. He was clean with his mechanics and loose/free with his arm action. All in all - Riley is a strong 2016 that has another year and a half to add consistency and strength for the next level. He is one to watch.

10/12/2014 - College PREP - Glen Burnie, MD Riley is an exciting 2-way prospect (C/3B). At 6'1"/170 this athlete makes this happen on the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and smooth actions. Footwork is quick as he moves well laterally around pitches in the dirt and centers the ball off of his chest. Exchange is a quick as he gains ground toward his target (pop times of 2.05). At 3B, Riley moves fluidly around the ground ball working from right to left. He presents and fields the ball out in front and fires strong/accurate throws across the diamond. With the bat, this strong RHH shows an athletic setup with fluid rhythm. Bat speed is quick as he drives the barrel to and through the zone. He hits the ball where it's pitched and has the ability to spray to all parts of the field. More power potential is there with more extension on his finish. Riley has skills and a very bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
