06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Riley is a hardworking OF/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Riley has an athletic setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He tracks the baseball well and has a long swing path. He partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Riley is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Riley plays with an aggressive approach and takes effective angles to stay behind the baseball. He presents his glove and fields the ball in front of his body. Riley has a clean exchange leading into a quick arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistently accurate with good strength. On the mound, Riley works quickly with good tempo and rhythm. He has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from an over the top slot. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He features a full arsenal with a slider and changeup. Overall, Riley has a good approach to the game with upside and talent to get even better.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Riley is an athletic built OF/RHP prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2018. In the outfield, Riley plays with active footwork and gets a good jump giving him the ability to cover ground. He gets behind the baseball and fields it squarely with a firm glove. Riley has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball and his throws are consistently online. Offensively, Riley has a tall stance with his weight in the front of his stance. He has an on-plane swing path that stays level through the zone. Riley shows solid contact to the opposite field. On the mound, Riley has a balanced, compact delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He does a nice job engaging his hips and pivoting off his back foot. Riley locates his fastball frequently and throws an 11-5 o'clock breaking slider. His best pitch is his changeup with good run movement. Overall, Riley has a good approach to the game and upside to get even better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
