02/24/2013 - College PREP - Long Island, NY Riley is a left-handed hitting 2B who can swing the bat a little. At the plate, he shows a square and athletic setup, good balance and short stride. He does well hitting against a firm front side while firing his backside lower 1/2. He makes consistent contact and has the ability to use the whole field. Defensively, Riley maintains quick and active footwork and is aggressive, attacking the groundball. He has a clean exchange and makes the throw to first look easy. Looser/more relaxed actions and increased arm strength will help him improve his defensive abilities. This 2014 grad has skills and still has a year to grow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
