Riley continues to show as prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.16 with accuracy / carry (88 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 1 for 3. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 77-79 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Riley is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (88 mph) with impressive pop times of 2.08. Offensively, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (90 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. With 3 years to further develop, Riley has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
