07/15/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 2 Rob is a young (2014) catcher with a lean, athletic looking body that is well suited for his position. Feet are active in working in line with his target, displaying accuracy on throws with pop times showing a range of 2.20-2.68 with a means of 2.57. He will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and lowering pop times. He is fundamentally sound as a catcher. His stance is solid as he receives well and works to keep all balls in front through the blocking process. Both skills show potential to be quality tools at the next level as he continues to develop. Offensively, Swartz shows a solid setup and an aggressive approach as he shows strength in his swing, flashing gap to gap power. If he can work more on loading his hands and being more balanced throughout the swing, then we would expect his grades to improve, especially as he grows into his strength. With 4 years to further develop, Rob has abilities with a lot of room and time to improve.
