06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010
Robbie showed very good skills both behind the plate and offensively at the event. He is a young, solid, and strong Catcher that runs well for his size. Robbie was clocked at 7.18 in the 60, and radar velocity as high as 86 MPH. Defensively, Robbie has quick feet, a solid transfer, and a strong / accurate arm to 2nd base. His pop times range from 1.92 - 2.08. Offensively, Morris has a balanced approach, solid set-up, and a level swing. He has quick hands, an aggressive lower 1/2, and the ball tends to jump off the barrel of the bat. Morris is definitely a young player to keep on your radar.
03/07/2010 - National Tryout - Greenville, SC
Robbie improved pop time as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.92. Foot speed also has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.18 runner. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in working in line with his target through a plus transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving and blocking skills will be quality tools at the next level. He did not hit at the event.
01/15/2010 - Under Armour Preseason All-America - 2010
Morris continues to show plus abilities behind the plate. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly as indicated by his low 1.98 pop time. He utilizes his athletic abilities well through blocking process as he keeps all balls in front, centering well. Offensively, Robbie sits in well displaying a simple approach as he shows a feel for the barrel. He was 2 for 6 with a 2B at the event.
10/25/2009 - College PREP - North Charleston, SC
Robbie is a young, lean, 2-way player both behind the plate and at 2B. He shows a strong arm with velocity clocked at 85 MPH, life on this throws, and athletic movements behind the dish. He shows a firm, low target receiving, and takes proper angles blocking the baseball. At 2B, he fielded the ball out in front, moved well side to side, showed a quick release, and again, arm strength. For a young hitter, Robbie has good balance, bat speed, and quick hands. His swing is level and he does a nice job of working the ball to all fields. If Robbie can work on developing more load during his approach at the plate, we should only see this young athlete become even better!
