Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Robert is a hardworking 1B/RHP prospect who graduates in 2018. As a left-handed hitter, Robert has a square, balanced setup with smooth timing. He has above average bat speed with an flat, line-drive swing path. Robert tracks the ball well and shows good pull side pop. In the field, Robert plays with active footwork and fields the ball in an athletic position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. His throws are consistent and online. On the mound, Robert works with good tempo and consistently around the zone. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot and cuts himself off through his release. His fastball has good run, and his slider breaks 9-3 0'clock. Robert is also developing his change-up. Overall, Robert has solid potential and good foundation of skills to continue to build.

10/23/2016 - College PREP - O'Fallon, MO Robert Caleb is a thick, strong 2018 two-way prospect who is currently more advanced as a first baseman. He uses his big frame to generate impressive raw power, consistently hitting the ball hard and driving it deep into the outfield and over the fence. At the plate, he is aggressive in his at bats, looking to ambush the first good pitch he sees. His path is direct to the ball with fast bat speed and he makes square contact to drive the ball. His balance is centered throughout his swing with good weight transfer to generate power with his lower half. On the bump, he works on a downhill plane, creating a tough angle for hitters to make contact. He has a quick arm that shows with a fastball that tops out at 78 with good tail, an 11-5 curveball with tight spin and a deceptive changeup with good movement. At first, he has soft hands to scoop the ball and quick, agile feet to work around the bag to field and receive throws. He centers the ball in his body, fielding with soft hands and has a strong arm to throw around the infield. Robert Caleb is an exciting, young prospect who we are excited to watch progress even more in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
