Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Robert continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. He works through a low arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 62-63 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Robert is a young, 2-way player with a thin frame. In the INF, Robert has active feet, good range, and he presents his glove well. He keeps the ball in front of his body, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. On the mound, Robert keeps his eyes on target, he has good glove side lead, and a controlled landing toward the plate. Offensively, Robert can switch hit and is good from both sides. From the right, has a square set-up, a proper load, and solid plate coverage. From the left, Robert swings in good rhythm, he has good feel for the barrel, and some pop to the pull side. Robert can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
