09/11/2011 - College PREP - Alameda, CA
Robert is a 2012 athletic outfielder with a quick arm action. In the outfield he has a clean exchange and fluid footwork and has a good first step, allowing him to get behind the ball and work through the ball and stays low. However, Robert needs to learn not to drift on fly balls. At the plate Robert's setup is square to the plate and athletic with a good short stride. His swing path stays on plane, creating consistent contact, but needs to allow the ball to travel deeper in his hitting zone. To improve at the plate Robert can learn to stay square through his stride. This will allow him to let the ball travel deeper in his hitting zone and stay through the ball a lot longer. With another full season of high school baseball Robert has the tools and athleticism to fine-tune his skills in preparation for the next level.
01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011
Jackson showed similar offensive and defensive skills at the UA Preseason as he has done in previous workouts. At the plate, Robert has a balanced set-up, a proper load, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. He is a pull type hitter who puts the bat on the ball with two strikes and has some pop in his bat. In the OF, Robert has quick feet, playable hands, and tracks the ball well. He plays through the ball, gathers himself properly, and has a quick arm with accuracy to his target. With continued work, Robert can be a player for college coaches to keep their eye on.
12/27/2010 - UA Recruiting Classic - 2010
Robert is a young, thin, OF / 2nd baseman who will graduate in 2012. In the OF, Robert reads the ball off the bat well and makes plays. He has quick feet, playable hands, and a quick transfer. Robert plays through the ball and throws using his body, and with decent accuracy to his target. OF skills can get better with improved routes to the ball and a higher arm slot. In the INF, Robert has quick hands, okay footwork, and he moves well to the glove side. He flashes a decent backhand and has accuracy across the diamond. Defensive grades will get better by working more from the ground up and by playing more through the baseball. At the plate, Robert has an aggressive swing and good bat speed. He has some pop in his bat, and can improve with a more still head, more level swing, and improved barrel accuracy.
