12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 RJ is a 2026 OF/RHP out of Strasburg, CO who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament in Pirate City. In the OF he starts on the balls of his feet and creates good angles to the ball. He works behind the ball and has a high 1-hand catch. Has good life on his throws into infield with an arm velocity up to 81mph. This right-handed pitcher works exclusively from the stretch. He has a confident demeanor and works with good tempo. He takes proper stride length and ends in a good fielding position. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 75mph and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with tight spin. In 3 innings of work, RJ punched out 3 batters. At the plate he hits from an upright and even stance with low hands. Shows on-time rhythm to load and is centered at contact. Takes an aggressive hack at plate. In live game action he reached base 3 times with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He showed good instincts on the bases and plays with good energy. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament RJ is a 2026 OF/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Academic All-American Tournament. In the OF he starts in an athletic position and shows smooth footwork. He shows a clean transfer off of his left foot as he creates momentum towards his target and had an arm velocity up to 76mph. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. Has a repeatable delivery and works with good direction down the slope of the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 73mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and changeup with some tailing action that he throws with FB arm speed. In live game action, RJ worked 2 1/3 innings of 1-hit ball and didn't allow an earned run. At the plate he shows good barrel control and keeps the bat in the hitting zone for a long time. In live game action, he had a triple, a double, and a walk. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Parker, CO RJ is a OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball and utilizes his all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 1/2 years to further develop, RJ has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
