Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

06/08/2014 - National Tryout - Atlanta, GA Robert continues to work hard on his game. At 3B, he works into a square fielding position and tracks the ball into his mitt. He fields the ball cleanly and works in-line toward 1B. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid base. He swings on a level path and uses his lower 1/2 well to generate pop off of the bat. On the bump, Robert works through on-time separation and clean actions. FB tops out at 69 mph while breaking ball has 10/4 shape. A long toss program will help to increase arm strength. Only a 2017 grad - Robert still has a lot of time to improve his skills.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 12-14) Robert is a tall, athletic player who is a RHP and also plays 3B. As a pitcher, he has an over-the-top arm slot, a controlled balance point, level shoulders and a sound landing. Uses his weight well and understands the art of pitching with command of 2 pitches. Working on a more complete finish and a looser arm action will help him to improve on the mound. Defensively at 3B, he has soft, sure hands with quick and fluid footwork. Makes adjustments well and is sound fundamentally. He will improve and he continues to hone his skills on the left side of the infield. Offensively, he is square and athletic and generates good bat speed with solid hands. There will be improvement as he continues to work on his balance and his launch position.

06/02/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Atlanta, GA Rob is a tall, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the hill, Rob has a long arm action, level shoulders, and he keeps his eyes on target. At 3B, Rob fields in a square position, he keeps the ball in front, and he throws with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Rob has a square set-up, good balance, and he gets his lower 1/2 through the ball. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Separation
2. Front arm extension
3. Finish
Defense
1. Play lower
2. Range
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Load
2. Shorten / level swing
3. Lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
