06/05/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida Roberto is a strong 1B prospect with great offensive potential. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and great raw power. In the field, Roberto covers ground well and fields with soft hands. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes on-line throws to his target. Overall, Roberto is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

06/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida This athletic catcher shows a bright future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Offensively, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (94 mph exit velocity) with the ball coming off well off his barrerl. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. Pop times showed in the low 2.00 range with accuracy / on line carry on his throws. Roberto has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Roberto continues to show shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times were in the 2.03 range with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Feet are active, working in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving / blocking skills. At the plate, he continues to shine. Hands are quick and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered with gap-to-gap pop. A projectable catcher - Roberto has lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

10/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Roberto is a stong, solidly-built catching prospect who is advanced in all facets, but still only a 2020 grad. He takes an aggressive hack at the plate leading to loud contact and power to all fields. He combines a good lower half with quick/strong hands and excellent head discipline to consistently find the barrel with authority. Roberto's first game at bat at the Futures South event resulted in an opposite field HR and he ended the day 2-3 with a walk. Behind the plate, he is a solid receiver and good on balls in the dirt. His times to 2B were as low as 1.99 and he has the type of durable frame behind the plate that can handle the difficult workload back there. This is a young prospect with the potential to be a middle-of-the-order bat while playing a premium position.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
