06/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida Roberto continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hit-ters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 89 mph. Fastball showed range of 84-89 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Command / control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and locates to both sides of the plate. At the plate, hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line with gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, he takes a quick first and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws. Defensive abilities are out-standing as he shows big play potential. Roberto has a tremendous upside on the diamond and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Roberto showed the confidence and hitting ability you look for in a young player. His right-handed stroke was natural and consistent with a well-timed load and go approach. His BP session was filled with solid barrel contact to all parts of the field, and his present strength helps the ball jump off the bat. It was a low effort swing with a level path that produced line drives that seemed to continue to carry. As a defender Roberto has very sure hands at 3B. His glove presentation and ability to work from the ground were impressive during the defensive workout. There was plenty of arm across the diamond and he showed a comfort level with throwing from different arm angles. Roberto also jumped on the mound and showed a fastball/curveball mix that showed promise. He attacked hitters and his arm strength and athleticism point to more on the mound in the future. His bat appears to be his calling card, so his ultimate future appears to be at 3B, but Roberto is a talented guy that can currently impact games in many ways.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
