08/21/2016 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Rocky continues to show improvements in his baseball tools with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. He shows a quick tempo and works through a repeatable delivery. Fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph with good arm side action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, feet are active as he works around and plays through with his body. Hands are clean but will benefit by presenting more out front.

09/20/2015 - College PREP - Knoxville, TN Rocky continues to show as a SS/RHP with improvements in his baseball abilities and a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At SS, hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally, flashing range and shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 77 mph. He gets on a strong downhill plane with his fastball. Changeup is best off speed pitch, showing a feel for as he maintains arm speed. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with short / gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Rocky is a hard worker who goes about his business and plays the game the right way. At SS, he shows active footwork moving light on his feet. He gathers well with a clean exchange, firing throws with carry across the diamond. With the bat, Rocky shows a balanced approach with patience, tracking the ball into the zone. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the whole field. More rhythm to load will help to improve timing and increase contact consistency. On the bump, he attacks the zone and lets his defense work. He mixes his looks and holds runners, keeping them close. More extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Only a 2018 grad - Rocky still has a ton of time to develop his skills.

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Rocky showed as a SS/RHP at the event but currently projects best at SS for the next level where he continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has really improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.42. At SS, defensive grade has improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he works around and through ground balls. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will be able to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Rocky has made a position change since we last saw him. He is now a primary SS that also pitches. He is a very good young athlete, so the transition to SS from catcher allows him to show off his athleticism more. In the infield he has quick feet, soft hands, and proper footwork. He works around the ball and is aggressive with his approach. He has a quick release and makes accurate throws with good life. On the mound Rocky has a clean arm action, smooth tempo, and repeats his delivery. He stays down in the zone with his fastball and curve and shows a good mound presence. Working on finishing his pitches better (not falling off towards 1B), and keeping his front side closed are a couple of areas for him to work on. At the plate he has an athletic setup, good balance, and quick hands. He consistently made solid contact and could be a future power threat with his good approach and plate discipline. He is a talented athlete who is a competitor. If he continues to work hard, he is going to be one to watch as he gets older.

05/18/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Rocky is a solid, 2-way player who pitches and catches. On the mound, Rocky has a long arm action, a controlled balance, and on-time separation. He keeps his shoulders level and throws strikes. Behind the plate, Rocky has firm hands, he sticks the ball well, and his actions are quiet. He has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a long arm action. At the plate, Rocky is well above average for his age, showing good balance, a square set-up, and a level swing. He has good bat speed, he swings in good rhythm, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

1. More front arm extension
2. Finish / Bend
3. Direction
Catching
1. Getting down quicker when blocking
2. Set-up
3. Footwork to throw

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
