09/25/2019 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Rodney is a coachable 2B prospect who showed well during the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. In the field, Rodney takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with life through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Overall, Rodney is a talented prospect who should find success going into his sophomore season.

05/19/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sumrall (Hattiesburg), MS Rodney is a 2B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Rodney fields the ball out in front of his body and makes a clean exchange. He shows the ability to throw from multiple arm slots and keeps his throws accurate and on-line zip (84 mph velocity) to his target. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He drives through well with his lower half and drives the ball to all fields with gap-to-gap pop. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off when centered. Overall, Rodney is a solid prospect who will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Rodney shined once again at the All American Preseason Rookie tournament. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well through a line drive approach. With 3 years to further develop, Rodney has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

09/26/2018 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Rodney is a coachable 2B/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic. He gets back into his load well and takes a level swing to the ball, leading to hard contact and line drives. Overall, Rodney is a talented prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
