Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

09/21/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Fall Classic Participant Lacy continues to show as a SS/RHP but currently projects slightly better in the RHP for the next level. On the mound, arm action is loose and easy through a solid tempo. Fastball showed a range of 80-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with hard / late break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up and makes the routine plays. At the plate, Rollin shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a solid feel for the barrel with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great kid with a positive attitude.

09/19/2012 - Under Armour Fall Classic Rollin improved in several areas of his game during his time at the Fall Classic. He showed both as a RHP/SS but projects best on the mound for the next level. His FB now tops out at 86 mph showing some A/S run. He maintains good tempo and good direction throughout his delivery. Defensively at SS, Lacy shows his athletic ability in working around ground balls and playing through to his target. He made some nice plays in the games and shows an accurate arm across the diamond. At the plate, he has good/quick hands and gets the barrel through the zone. Rollin is very coachable, he has a great attitude and is a hard worker who has a lot of upside.

07/10/2012 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Rollin is a lanky RHP that will graduate in 2013. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose and quickly to the plate. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 12/6 shape with late breaking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a solid feel for with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Stock on the mound, will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed through a long toss program.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
