12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Rom is an athletic and hard working 2022 SS/3B prospect. At SS, Rom has active pre pitch movement; he presents a low/early glove, and funnels the ball. He has a good exchange and gets into a strong throwing position. Understanding the pace of the play will and knowing what to do with the ball before its hit to him will elevate his game to the next level. At the plate, Rom loads his hands back into the drive position; he gets the barrel on plane, and has good pitch recognition. Continuing to attacking the inside part of the ball and using the lower half will allow him to get extension through contact. Rom will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - North Charleston, SC Rom is an athletic (5'6"/117) SS who showed very well on the diamond. Defensively is where he excels displaying plus lateral range. He has quick footwork, moves well around the GB from right to left and funnels smoothly. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with good hand separation on his load. He takes an aggressive hack, barrels the ball up and hits it where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. He has a solid skill-set with upside. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve his overall skill-set on the diamond.

Defense
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Gain ground through the ball
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Front foot landing (timing)
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
