Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

06/29/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Roman continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he shows some smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is coachable.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Roman is a class of 2026 RHP/3B prospect. At the plate, he shows off a good stance. Does a good job of getting his backside through in the swing. In the field, he showed good feel for his glove. Did a good job of getting the ball across the diamond accurately. On the mound, he showed the ability to throw both a FB and CB for strikes. Pitched from a high 3/4 arm slot. Showed overall clean mechanics. Did not allow a run in 2 innings of work. Roman is a good prospect that we hope to see again in the future.

03/27/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Bronx, NY Roman returned to Baseball Factory in the Bronx as we saw him on the mound and at 1B. At 1B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 54-55 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup tailing action. Stock on the mound will improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Roman as he finishes up his 8th grade year.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Roman is a 2026 RHP/1B out of New York, NY. Defensively, he displayed great effort trying to work in front of the baseball and take good angles out of his ready position. He has a clean exchange but could continue to work on moving his feet to get in a proper throwing position. At the plate, he uses a tall stance with a square stride to accomplish a line drive approach to all fields. On the bump, he exhibited the ability to throw some strikes with a breaking ball that had a 10-4 action. Roman could benefit from a strength & conditioning and long toss program to develop his game. We believe if Roman puts in the work he has the time to improve his skills on the diamond.

08/21/2021 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Roman is a 2026 3B/RHP prospect with a lot of time to develop. In the field, Roman tries to work in front of the ball and takes good angles. He has a clean exchange and would benefit from continuing to gain ground on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He will benefit from getting into his load earlier and using his lower half throughout his swing. He takes a short swing and bat speed will increase with maturity and growth. On the mound, Roman shows a 52 mph fastball. Overall, Roman is a solid player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
