01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Roman continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he displays a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.14 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Roman is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Roman shows active footwork and covers up well when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in a square position and makes a quick exchange to throw. He has a quick release on his throws to 2B and keeps them consistent with good carry through the bag. Roman can improve as a C by presenting a lower target to the pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and maintains center balance. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through with his lower half. He takes a short swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Roman can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. With four more years to develop, Roman has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
