Official Scouting Report

02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmetto, FL Romeo is a tall and well framed (6’1/195) catcher in the 2023 class. Behind the plate, he has a quiet body that pitchers enjoy throwing to. Keeps his shoulders square to the target and his pocket is firm. Has a clean exchange and gets into a ¾ arm slot for accurate feeds. Working on snapping the wrist will give his ball further flight and carry. At the plate, proves to be a pull side hitter with strong hands through the zone. Does a good job keeping his eyes on the barrel and maintaining his back elbow slot. Being more fluid in his load can relax his body and recognize location. Overall, Romeo is a fine player who will improve with two years of development.

05/13/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Tampa, FL Romeo is a young, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Romeo has agile movements, efficient footwork, and he presents his glove well. He has soft hands, looks the ball in, and throws with accuracy from a loose arm to his target. On the mound, Romeo keeps his eyes on target, he repeats his delivery well, and has a controlled landing while competing in the zone. Offensively, Romeo has a square set-up, good balance, and a short stride. He swings on plane, can spray to all fields, and gets his lower body through. Romeo can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
