Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

04/18/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Las Vegas, NV Ronan is a 2B/RHP prospect in the 2024 class. On the mound, he showed the ability to throw 3 pitches at 3 speeds, which will help keep hitters off balance. Cutter showed good 10-4 breaking action. All 3 pitches came from High ¾ arm slot. At the plate, he starts in open stance. Showed the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Good approach and attitude. In the field, he showed the ability to make the routine play. With increased foot speed he will continue to expand his range in the infield. We hope to see more of Ronan in the future.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Ronan is an athletic and hard working 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Ronan starts in an athletic position, he’s aggressive to the ball, and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step and improve his first step to the ball. Presenting an early/low glove and working from the ground up will allow him to play through the ball. At the plate, Ronan made several adjustments and was aggressive on the fastball early. At the plate, Ronan starts in an athletic and closed stance. He has a flat bat path but needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and rotate his backside into the ball. On the bump, Ronan is a strike thrower and has confidence in his ability. Finding a balance point over the rubber, separating on time, and working down hill will improve is finish. Ronan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/03/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Las Vegas, NV Ronan showed a spike in velocity (57 MPH), and defensive improvements during his last workout in Vegas. At 3B, Ronan has firm hands, good footwork, and he fields squarely. He gets in a good ready position, makes plays, and throws with a quick arm action to his target. On the mound, this RHP has good overall mechanics, a clean arm circle, and a controlled stride toward home plate. Offensively, Ronan stands in the box athletically with good balance. He makes contact, gets extension through the ball, and he can spray to all fields.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Ronan is an athletic and hardworking 2024 2-way prospect with high energy. At the hot corner, Ronan fields the ball in an athletic position and makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, present a low/early glove, and have a clean exchange. Continuing to build arm strength through a throwing program and improving his first step to the ball will elevate his game on the infield. At the plate, Ronan starts in a closed stance, gets his front foot down on time, and shows the ability to create pull side lift. He tracks the ball well but needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position and attack the inside part of the ball. Creating backside drive with his lower half and keeping his head down at contact will allow him to stay balanced throughout the swing. On the bump, Ronan is a strike thrower and commands the bottom part of the plate. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. Ronan was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/30/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Las Vegas, NV Ronan is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays 3B. On the mound, Ronan stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and lands with good direction toward home. He gets good extension on his pitches, lands with a proper length stride, and keeps his head on target. At 3B, Ronan has playable hands and feet, he centers the ball well, and throws with some accuracy from a short arm action to his target. Offensively, Ronan has a tall set-up, good balance, and he keeps a still head. He loads well, swings on plane, and hits with some strength to the pull side. Ronan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Release
2. Exchange
3. Quicken feet

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
