01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ross showed well with his 6'/185 lbs frame at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. On the hill, he showed an ability to locate his FB anywhere in the zone and ran it up to 89 MPH with heavy, hard & late arm-side run. He spun a SL as his secondary pitch with late, sharp break and 11/5 shape at 74-76. He also showed some feel for a CH but needs to continue to develop the pitch for the next level. Smooth and fluid actions made his delivery very repeatable and he had good rhythm throughout the process. He was very controlled with his body and aggressive to attack hitters. He had fantastic feel to pitch and worked clean arm action for plus command. In all - Ross is an intriguing player that still has a year and a half to further develop and strengthen.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Ross has progressed nicely in his game. During his time at Pirate City, he showed his versatility to make an impact both on the mound and with the bat. On the bump, he has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a free arm action. FB now cracks the mitt topping out at 87 mph. He works both sides of the dish and attacks hitters. He drives downhill with quick arm whip and competes. He has good game awareness and plays the position well, backing up bags. Offensively, Rogers shows an open setup with good balance. Swing bat is short/direct to and through the zone as he shows some pop. Working on taking the pitch on the outer ½ the other way will help him to use the whole field. Rogers has a bright future in the game with his solid all-around skill-set.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Ross continues to shine on the diamond. Once on the mound he's out there to battle. Ross worked through smooth tempo and at his pace, keeping hitters off balance. He drives his lower 1/2 with his FB cracking the mitt at 84 mph. He shows plus command and can paint the corners. Trusting in his CH and throwing it with the same arm-speed as his FB will make him that much more effective. At the hot corner, he works into a square fielding position and fields the ball cleanly. He has a clean exchange and delivers throws with carry across the diamond. At the plate, Rodgers remains patient and shows a solid base. He drives the ball to the gaps and hustles out of the box (hitting 2 doubles at the event). Don't let the quiet/composed demeanor fool you, when Ross takes the diamond he's there to compete.

09/29/2013 - College PREP - Conway (Little Rock), AR Ross is a young, lean RHP/3B that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level but has abilities at 3B. Delivery is solid / repeatable through a strong balance point that allows his arm action to work loose / free to the plate. He throws 3 pitches at 3 different speeds and shows a lot of potential. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 83 mph. Fastball shows a range of 79-83 mph with slight sink. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with hard / late sink. Off speed pitches show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and displays soft / clean hands. He makes the routine play but needs to attack balls more, play through, and increase foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Rogers shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He makes consistent contact and works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more and use his lower half through the swing. With 3 years to further develop, Ross has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
