10/01/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Georgetown, TX Rowdy is a talented SS/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. At SS, Rowdy plays with effective footwork taking effective angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Rowdy has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a low 3/4 arm slot. His throws have good carry across the diamond. He also shows a smooth double play feed. As a switch-handed hitter, Rowdy has an open setup with his weight in the back of his setup. He takes a short stride in a closed direction. Rowdy has a long swing path and gets good extension at contact. He is a contact type hitter who is looking to hit line drives. On the mound, Rowdy has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He stays square to home plate and can benefit from a longer stride. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Rowdy shows arm side run on his fastball. His changeup shows potential and his curveball is developing. Overall, Rowdy is a young prospect who has a projectable skill set and bright future on the diamond.

07/24/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Rowdy showed at SS and on the mound for the first time at the event. At SS, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean as he presents on time and out front. He shows off his athletic ability on his feeds of the double play. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through an uphill swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 61-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Overall, Rowdy has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

11/12/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Rowdy continued to show that he has a solid fundamental foundation. Offensively, he showed the ability to compete from both sides of the plate. His loose hand action and path to the ball allow him to be a hitter who uses all fields. His load tends to be late which causes him to rush at times. Rowdy can focus on an earlier load while letting the ball travel. Defensively, he displayed solid overall footwork and routes to the baseball. His hands are sure with the ability to gain ground to his target. Rowdy has a bright future and will show more improvement as he continues to physically mature and increase foot speed.

09/20/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Georgetown, TX Rowdy is a switch hitting 2-way player as a SS/OF. Offensively, he shows similarly from both sides. He has a relaxed & balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. He barrels the ball up and drives it back up the middle of the field. At SS, Rowdy has quick footwork and picks out the hops well, working into a square fielding position. He makes the play to his glove-side smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, he takes solid routes/angles to work into position behind the fly-ball. He gathers well and works in-line toward his target, firing accurate throws. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Increase bat speed
2. Let ball travel
3. Lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Footwork on backhand
2. Play through ball
3. Transfer/exchange
Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Routes
3. Gain ground through ball (crow-hop)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
