01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Royal is a gifted and solid 5ft 10/180 SS/RHP in the 2024 class. He recently impressed scouts with his two-way action at the BF Preseason All American event. In the field, he shows great footwork and creates angles to the ball. Plays under the baseball with a low fielding position and shows sound glove presentation. Works from the ground up and redirects with clean actions. Arm has major life across the diamond by using numerous arm angles based upon his defensive zone and the speed of the runner. On the mound, he shows a clean arm path and athletic frame. He repeats his delivery and works with tempo while filling up the zone. His FB sat 80-2 with sink. His breaking pitch shaped 11-5 with medium break at 68-9. His CH was in the low zone at 74 and working to keep his FB arm speed will create further depth. At the plate, he likes to be aggressive and swing with the intent to do damage. He stays inside the baseball and his hands and hips work well together. Balance stays inside his feet and looks to generate power (84 exit velo) to the pull side. Overall, Royal is a talented two-way player and scouts are eager to see where his game takes him.

11/13/2021 - All-In Membership - North Branford, CT Royal is an athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with online carry (83 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Royal has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
