Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Royalton continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects slightly better as a RHH where he shows outstanding power potential. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, working to get ahead of hitters. He competes on the bump. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, is very coachable, and plays with high energy.

10/25/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Newnan (Atlanta), GA Royalton is a tall, lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Royalton has potential with time and room to improve his game.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Royalton is an athletic 2023 SS prospect that moves well to the ball and worked hard all week. At SS, Royalton is on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and presents a low/early glove. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum with his lower half when he throws. He also did a nice job of turning double plays. At the plate, Royalton starts in a squared position, creates backside rotation with his lower half, and attacks the fastball. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, keep his head down at contact, and attack the inside part of the ball. Royalton was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Royalton is a tall SS with an athletic frame. Defensively, Royalton presents his glove well, he fields aggressively, and he fields in a low/square position. He has good range, a clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. Offensively, Royalton can hit from both sides of the plate. From the left, Royalton has good balance, an aggressive swing, and he finds the barrel of the bat consistently. From the right side, Royalton has an athletic set-up, a consistent barrel, and he swings aggressively with some strength to the pull side. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Exchange
2. Widen base
3. Aggressiveness
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Rhythm
3. Swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
