01/31/2016 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Royce is a tall/athletic (6'2"/185) LHP/1B who is entering his senior season. On the mound, this lefty fires a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) from a loose/free arm acton. He can spot up his FB while it has some tail - ranging from 75-78 mph. Breaking ball shows 2/8 shape with early action. Changeup has some sink as he works to keep it down in the zone. At 1B, Royce has active footwork and stays low working from the ground-up as he tracks GB's into his mitt. He moves well around the 1B bag adjusting well to throws up and down the line. Offensively, this lefty has smooth rhythm and gets loaded. He takes a hack at pitches in the zone showing some pop to his pull-side. More extension through contact will result in increased power. Tashiro has tools and should find success on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
