Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

08/03/2021 - All-In Membership - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Rudy is a lean, athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands-on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three-pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80 mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around the ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Rudy has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
