07/09/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Rudy continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around ground balls and squares up well. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/07/2018 - College PREP - Silicon Valley, CA Rudy is a hardworking 2B prospect who has a strong build. As a right-handed hitter, Rudy has a square stance with his weight on his heels. He takes an open stride and can benefit from the addition of a load. Rudy has an opposite field approach. He shows signs of being a line drive type hitter. In the field, Rudy has solid pre-pitch actions and is prepared. He presents his glove and fields the ball deep in his stance. Rudy has a long exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. He is developing arm strength. Overall, Rudy has a balanced skill set and potential to develop his game with hard work.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
