02/18/2022 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Rudy is a 2B who will graduate in 2023. Athletic build with some strength present and room to fill out. At 2B, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and active/efficient footwork. Fields from the ground up, with a low funnel, as he tries to center ball. Clean transfers into a high 3/4 release point. Accurate/on-line throws recorded up to 76mph across the diamond. A left-handed hitter, he starts with an even stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Good bat angle at contact, with extension out front, and ability to hit line drives to all fields. Reached base multiple times and recorded 2 hits and a bat exit velocity of 71mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

At 2B, he starts in an athletic position, with quick/fluid footwork, and gets good 1st step reads off the bat. He showed ability to cover ground in all directions and fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Has a quick/clean transfer as he made accurate throws consistently from multiple arm slots and an arm velocity up to 74mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Showed good awareness of the strike zone and only offered at his pitch. A short/direct barrel path, with a short glide step, and has good barrel control. He sprayed balls to the opposite field with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph. During the games, he reached base 3 times with a single, a walk, and reached on an error. He is a solid player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field with continued development.

He works hard to get his foot down on time and fire his lower half. Working on his strength and rotational power will allow him to hit for more power. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
