Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Ryan is a 3B/RHP in the 2024 class. In the field, his feet are active and he covers his defensive area well. Gains an athletic fielding position and is strong to his glove side. His feeds are accurate and have carry (78 velo) across the diamond. On the mound, he stays directional and is balanced. He uses a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. His FB sits 77-8 with run. His CB sits 67-9 with 11-5 shape and tight spin. Working to stays sideways with his glove side will keep him from flying open early and maintain his eyes to the target. At the plate, he uses his lower half well and shows a solid bat path. Generates juice with an 84 exit velo. Stays inside his feet well for a centered balance and shows he can handle the bat. Overall, Ryan is a solid two-way player in the 2024 class.

10/30/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Tiverton (Providence), RI Ryan raised arm velocity to 81 MPH and exit velocity to 87 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. On the mound, Ryan has a repeatable delivery, good balance, and he separates his hands on time. His off-speed show well, he keeps the ball down in the zone, and throws strikes. At 3rd base, Ryan has active feet, a presentable glove, and active footwork. He fields squarely, flashes a solid backhand, and throws with consistency across to his target. At the plate, Ryan has an athletic set-up, a solid base, and a rhythmic swing. He has a good load, he swings on plane, and can spray the ball to all fields.

02/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Tiverton (Providence), RI Ryan is a young, 2-way player, who plays 3B and RHP. In the infield, Ryan has efficient footwork, a presentable glove, and he covers ground well. He fields squarely, makes the routine plays on balls hit his way, and his exchange is clean, with a consistent arm across the diamond. Added urgency and staying low throughout the fielding position will help defensive abilities get better. On the mound, Ryan has good balance, on-time separation, and lands in square position towards home plate. He repeats his delivery well, gets good extension on his pitches, and competes well in the zone; mixing his off speed in well. More front arm extension and a better finish will help mound effectiveness get better. At the plate, Ryan has an athletic/closed stance, a short/square stride, and good balance. He has a simple swing, a short/direct barrel, and he makes consistent contact spraying the ball gap to gap. An earlier load, and more direct hands to the ball, will help offensive numbers get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
