12/17/2017 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Ryan is a long, thin, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Ryan has good size, a loose/free arm action, and he works on a downhill plane. He separates on time, has a controlled landing, and the ball tends to jump out of his hand. Abilities on the mound can improve if Ryan can use more lower 1/2, sharpen his CB, and add further arm strength. At 1B, Ryan has efficient footwork to the ball, he covers ground well, and he fields athletically. He makes plays, has good bag awareness, and throws with good arm strength to his target. Added range, a softer glove, and better accuracy will help defense improve. Offensively, Ryan has a tall set-up, a short stride, and a simple load. He has good balance, he stays inside the ball, and has a direct barrel to the ball. Hitting can get better with a more still head, improved rhythm, and more use of the lower 1/2.
