Official Scouting Report

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Ryan is a corner infielder who performed well offensively at the event. He is a sure handed third baseman who makes solid accurate throws across the diamond. Quickening his first step and lateral quickness will be key in taking the next step in developing further as an infielder. Offensively, Ryan is a balanced and patient hitter with good pop. He needs to focus on keeping his hips squared and letting the ball travel to utilize right field when hitting. He is a quiet kid who has alot of upside as he continues to improve and mature.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Ryan is a corner infielder who is very coachable and showed good skills, especially offensively. As a fielder he displayed solid arm strength, good ready position, sure hands and proper footwork. He can improve by increasing lateral quickness, work low to high, and be more aggressive to the ball. At the plate Ryan has a good setup, balance, swing path and barrel accuracy. He is direct to the ball and is able to hit to all fields but improvement can be made by achieving more rhythm, getting more of a load, and using his lower half more.

07/08/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Minnetonka (Minneapolis), MN Ryan is a young, 3B with a tall frame. Defensively, Ryan has good pre-pitch actions, sure hands, and he fields in a square position. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and consistency across the diamond. At the plate, Ryan has a square / athletic set-up, good balance, and a square stride. He keeps his head on the ball, his swing is short, and he can work the ball gap to gap. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Field out front
2. Play more through
3. Quicken feet
Offense
1. More lower 1/2
2. Loosen grip
3. Load

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
