Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/08/2019 - College PREP - Martinez, CA Ryan is a solid, athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Ryan has active feet, smooth actions, and he fields the ball squarely. He has has a soft glove, a clean exchange, and he throws with momentum from a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, Ryan has good balance, a clean arm action, and he separates his hands on time. He has good glove side lead, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and competes in the zone. Not rushing and continuing to add arm strength will help mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, Ryan has a square stance, he loads well, and has explosive bat speed. He has a short/consistent swing path and can hit to all fields. Not lunging and better timing can help spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
