Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Ryan is a talented RHP in the 2025 class. On the mound, he shows a simple and repeatable delivery. He engages his lower half well and stays directional down the mound. He can control the zone well with a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. His Fb is easy out of his arm and topped at 86 and sat 78-81. His CB shows quality late break and 11-5 actions. His Ch has feel with fB arm speed and has solid tailing actions. As a hitter he has a short and compact stroke. Displays balance and easy rhythm with solid lower half engagement. Productions shows pull side line drive actions with a direct and on-plane path. Allowing the ball to travel more in the zone will help him stay inside the baseball for full field results. Overall, Ryan is a 2025 grad to keep an eye on.

05/30/2022 - All-In Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Ryan is a class of 2025 OF/RHP prospect. He features an athletic frame with room to grow as he matures. In the outfield, he shows off a good ability to make routine plays. Does a good job tracking the baseball into his glove and keeps the ball in front of him. Shows good throws with carry into the infield. At the plate, he hits from an athletic stance. Does a good job keeping a repeatable stride and keeping balanced throughout his swing. Does a good job keeping his hands inside the ball and getting extension out front. Shows the ability to hit the ball to all fields and had exit velos up to 79 MPH. On the mound, he shows clean mechanics with the ability to repeat at times. Does a good job getting into his lower 1/2 and trying to work downhill. Best pitch was his fastball that was in the 75-77 MPH range. Also showed feel for a slider with 10-4 shaped action. Ryan is a good player that we hope to see again as he continues to develop.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he tracks proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are loose and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he shows good tempo through a repeatable delivery allowing his arm to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 64-66 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with tight spin and great depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitter and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Ryan has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

12/18/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - San Bernardino, CA Ryan is a lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on changeup with cut action but throws too hard, resembling fastball. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 5 years to further develop, Ryan has potential with time and room to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
