06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Ryan has a bright future ahead of himself and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

01/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Ryan is a skilled/strong (5'11"/215) 2-way prospect (C/3B) who can make things happen in a variety of ways. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and good flexion. He presents a low/soft target and tracks pitches in well, sticking the ball and framing well. Lateral actions are quick as he gets around pitches in the dirt, centering/deadening them off of his chest. Transfer to throw is clean with accuracy down to 2B - pop times at 2.07. At 3B, he has active prep and moves well on the balls of his feet. He tracks GB's into a soft mitt, funnels smoothly, and works in-line toward his target at 1B. As a hitter, this righty stands in well with an open setup, centered balance and a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel with + bat speed, generating a ton of pop off of the barrel (exit velo = 85 mph). Ryan is a very talented prospect who has the skills that will translate well into the next level.

12/27/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.09 with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At 3B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.15 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact, showing a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/01/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.30 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft/sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process centering balls well out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

08/04/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Dublin (Columbus), OH Ryan showed a spike in hitting numbers, grip strength, and exit velocity to 81 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Ryan has quick/active feet, he sits in squarely, and his exchange is clean. He takes good angles when blocking and throws with pop times as low as 2.39 to 2nd base. At 3B, Ryan has playable hands and feet, he makes plays consistently, and delivers the ball with good direction to his target. At the plate, Ryan improved hitting and power grades to 45 and 48 respectively. He has a tall/open stance, good balance, and a still head. He has fast bat speed, a direct barrel, and hits line drives.

07/15/2019 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 14-18) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting/power has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.56 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup and sticks the ball through the receiving process. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

03/03/2019 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Ryan is a C/3B prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Ryan tracks the ball into his glove and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws and works to keep them accurate to 2B. Sitting in a lower stance can help Ryan improve as a C. At 3B, Ryan gets into a square position and fields the ball with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Ryan can improve as a 3B by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Ryan improve as a hitter. With two more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
