Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3BPosition Projection

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ryan is a corner infielder who can swing it. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 88 mph). At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (91 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. A projectable 3B - Ryan will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Ryan is a strong, stocky, 2-way player with very good abilities at both positions. At 3B, Ryan has quick reactions, soft/sure hands, and fluid footwork. He gets good reads off the bat, fields in a low position, and has a strong/accurate arm from a quick exchange across the diamond. On the mound, Ryan has a solid/complete delivery, he works down in the zone, and his C/B is sharp with late break. He is aggressive in the zone, his FB has nice sink, and he finishes in a complete position. Offensively, Ryan is a strong hitter with an athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He gets good separation, has fast bat speed, and can drive the ball into the gaps. If Ryan can get his front foot down earlier, and stay short to the ball, very good hitting numbers can get even better. Ryan is a nice all-around player to keep your eye on!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
