Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/SSPosition Projection

09/20/2023 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2025) Ryan is a 6ft/170 2B/SS in the 2025 class. In the field, he shows effective feet and likes to attack the baseball from his ready position. He positions himself to pick the clean hop and his hands are soft. Can redirect the baseball with clean actions and demonstrates athletic ability to use numerous arm angles based upon his defensive zones. Displays a fast arm and fits the middle of the field. Working to increase foot speed will only increase his stock as a defender. At the plate, scouts were impressed with his high contact rate and his ability to stay in the zone with his barrel. Shows a relaxed feel and his hands are always comfortable. Hits off a firm front side and creates line drive production. Overall, Ryan is a hard-working prospect with a great team player mindset. He has the skills and the intangibles to take his game to the next level.

02/19/2023 - National Showcase - Keizer (Salem), OR Ryan is a 2025 SS prospect with an athletic frame at 5'11" 160 pounds. At SS, he has quick, fluid feet and good range. His hands are firm and he does a good job of getting in a low, squared fielding position and fielding out in front. Able to change his arm slot depending on the type of throw/feed he needs to make in the infield. His backhand is impressive, and he's not afraid to dive and make a play. Exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws to his target. Works hard to attack and find the good hops. At the plate, Ryan starts with a squared, athletic stance. He gets a good load and exhibits fast bat speed, quick hands and a firm lower half. His hips work well and he does a great job of finishing his swing. He flashed some pop to the pull side and made hard consistent contact to all fields. Works to be consistent with his timing and keep his bat on a level path. Overall, has a very impressive approach at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
