06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Ryan continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to work to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path with power showing best to the pull side.

09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.35 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and reads balls well off the bat. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

07/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Ryan is an R/R OF who has an athletic frame (5'10"/175). In the OF, he has active footwork and takes good angles to track down fly-balls to his right and left. He works behind the ball, secures it with 2-hands and has a clean transfer to throw. With the bat, Ryan shows an athletic setup with a solid/strong base. He takes a hack and connects with strength with the ability to drive the ball the other way. Working to swing on a shorter/more direct path will help to increase bat speed and increase hard contact consistency. Davis (2021 grad) should find success as he enters his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
