08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Billings, MT Ryan has turned himself into a bonafide prospect behind the dish for the 2024 class. He is physical in everything he does on the diamond. Arm strength now up to 86mph. Exchange behind the plate is quick and clean with carry through the bag at second base with pop times as low as 1.96 seconds. His receiving game is above average with soft hands and firm wrists. Blocking is well above average as he deadens baseball after baseball in the dirt. At the plate, exit velocities are as high as 95mph. Power being generated by explosive bat speed and continual finish with his hips. Denowh will make a college program very happy.

08/07/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Billings, MT Ryan is an athletic C prospect who continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, Ryan shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate/on-line throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and hits against a strong front side. He generates explosive bat speed through the zone and sprays strong line drives to all fields. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

08/13/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Billings, MT Ryan is an athletic C prospect who continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, Ryan shows good lateral range and gains ground when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He throws from a 3/4 angle and displays great arm strength on throws to 2B. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, producing loud line drives. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as he continues to progress.

05/20/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Billings, MT Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.37 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 4 years to further develop, Ryan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ryan is a hard working and athletic 2024 Catching prospect that plays the game hard. Behind the dish Ryan does a lot of things well. When receiving he starts in an athletic primary and secondary stance. He works behind the ball and catches the low pitch well. He leads with his glove and moves to the ball laterally well when blocking. He has good footwork when throwing but needs to continue to have a clean exchange and create momentum into the ball when getting ready to throw. At the plate, Ryan starts in a relaxed stance, he has a simple load, and gets his front foot down on time. He creates backside drive with his lower half and has a level bat path. He hunts the fastball early and drives the ball gap to gap.

04/07/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Billings, MT Ryan is a young, 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Ryan has a presentable glove, a good set-up, and quick feet. He blocks and receives well, catches athletically, and has a clean exchange with a long arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.99 seconds. At 2nd base, Ryan has efficient footwork, firm hands, and he centers the ball well. He flashes a good backhand, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum from a loose arm action to his target. At the plate, Ryan has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he can work the ball the opposite way. He is a scrappy hitter who finds the barrel and uses his lower 1/2. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
