02/17/2019 - College PREP - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Ryan is an athletic OF prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Ryan shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Ryan can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to loud contact to all fields. Simplifying his pre-pitch movement can help Ryan improve as a hitter. With two more years to develop, Ryan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
