  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Ryan is a 2022 1B/LHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All Region Tournament. In the field, he starts with a good pre pitch routine with ability to make the routine plays. Showed good footwork around the bag and ability to scoop balls. At the plate, he gets hand separated, with knob to C, and tries to work the middle of the field with a direct barrel path. During the games, he reached base 3 times including a triple and a single. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch. Ryan does a good job of mixing pitches and works at the bottom of the zone. He attacks hitters with a FB that sat 79-81mph with sinking action, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with big break, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed that has good sink. In 3 innings of work, Ryan struck out 6 batters and threw 54% of his pitches for strikes. Overall, Ryan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Ryan is an athletic LHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Ryan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Ryan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 71-74mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Ryan shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with good extension, leading to consistent line drives. Overall, Ryan is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
