12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Ryan is a 2028 OF/LHP who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. In the OF he shows athletic actions and tracks ball to glove. He takes good routes to balls and works behind and through the baseball. Made accurate throws into infield from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 72mph. On the mound he works quick and pitches to contact. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 64mph with arm side run and an 1/7 shaped breaking ball with good depth. In 4 innings of work, Ryan punched out 4 batters and didn't allow an earned run. At the plate he hits from an upright and open stance with low hands. Has a compact swing and shows good bat to ball skills. Does a good job of using his lower half in his swing. In live game action, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 6 times with a double, a single, 3 walks, and was hit by a pitch. Ryan was MVP for his team and is a natural leader on the field. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Ryan is a up and coming LHP in the 2028 class. On the mound, he shows excellent rhythm and allows his body the opportunity to repeat his clean mechanics. Stays directional to his target and keeps his eyes to the glove. He gathers over the rubber well and his clean high 3 qtr. slot allows for proper extension. His FB sat 61-2 and was around the zone. His CB provided spin and shaped at 2-8. His CH stays down in the zone with tailing action at 56. At the plate, he has a level path and looks to stay in the middle of the field. Engages his hips well and sees the baseball well. Working to stay tall on his back side will allow him to stay above the baseball and generate more ball flight. Overall, scouts are excited to witness his growth and development at future BF events.

08/22/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Ryan is an athletic 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2028. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed range of 50-52 mph. He maintains arm speed on changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 7 years to further develop, Ryan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
