Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • Position Projection

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Ryan is an athletic RHP who has a mixture of current performance and pitchability with some projection left to add to his pure stuff. An athletic right handed delivery which he repeats consistently with outstanding body control and gives him above average control and above average command of his pitches. He attacks the strike zone and attacks hitters with a 3 pitch mix featuring a fastball, curveball and changeup all which he can throw in any count to any hitter with confidence. His fastball he can throw to all four quadrants of the strike zone because of his ability to locate it combined with his control of both of his secondary pitches it plays with more life than it’s current 80-83 MPH velocity. It features arm side run when throw to his arm side, but additionally it has sink on it allowing him to stay off the barrel. His curveball has depth with late action and he can mix it both as one he can throw in the strike zone early in the count and with late action to get swings and misses out of the zone late in the count it plays off his fastball thrown in the 65-67 MPH range. His changeup is his third pitch and does feature arm side fade with sink and is a weapon against both right handed and left handed hitters due to his confidence in it and works in the 68-72 MPH range. Ryan is a confident young man who understands how to pitch, how to sequence and execute pitches to set up hitters and has produced on a high level in the competitive Georgia high school ranks and against travel ball programs. He brings with him an already advanced ability to pitch and as he continues to add velocity and life to his arsenal of pitches with maturity and added strength he projects to be a good college level pitcher.

10/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Atlanta, GA Ryan is a lean, athletic SS/RHP who will graduate in 2023. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Ryan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
