10/21/2018 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Ryan is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is tremendous as indicated by his 60 time of 6.69. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate, with carry (82 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Ryan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
