07/05/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and is very coachable.

03/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Hartford, CT Ryan is a young and talented 1B/LHP in the 2026 class. In the field, he has effective feet and solid range. Fields in a low and athletic position with solid pocket feel. Exchanges are clean and releases from a high ¾ slot. Makes the routine play look easy and his feeds are accurate. Working to quicken his arm speed will produce more depth on his throws. On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix from both an over-the-top and high ¾ release. His has strike zone feel and is deceptive in his delivery. His FB topped at 61 and he located well. His CB has 1-7 shape and sat 44-5. His CH sat 49-52 with solid control. Working to maintain FB arm speed will give his CH more action on the ball. At the plate, he has quiet hands and advanced barrel feel. Looks fluid in his swing from stance to stride and can hit to all fields from a relaxed balanced position. Ryan impressed scouts with his performance and feel he has the makings of becoming an outstanding prospect as he works on his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
