Official Scouting Report

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Ryan is on time with his pre-step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and he presents a low/early glove. He plays through his back hand and makes strong throws from the 5-6 hole. He does a good job on slow rollers and can make off balance throws with accuracy. On double plays, he has efficient footwork and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Ryan starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He gets the barrel flat to the ball and has a gap to gap approach. On the bump, Ryan shows confidence in his pitches and is aggressive in the zone. He finds a balance point over the back leg, separates on time, and gets extension over the front side. He sinks his fastball and has an 11-5 break on his curveball. Ryan is eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall, balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he had a tremendous week as he was 6 for 9. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and plays with a lot of energy. Ryan has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

08/26/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Ryan is a strong, solid, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Ryan has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and he fields in rhythm. He keeps the ball in front of his body, has a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Ryan has a clean arm action, he stands over the rubber well balanced, and he keeps his eyes on target throughout. Offensively, Ryan has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has good feel for the barrel, flashes some bat speed, and he hits with strength to the pull side. Ryan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Quickness
2. Play more through
3. Hands
Pitching
1. Glove side lead
2. Landing
3. Long toss
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
