10/16/2019 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities are now solid skills as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Ryan is on time with his pre-step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and he presents a low/early glove. He plays through his back hand and makes strong throws from the 5-6 hole. He does a good job on slow rollers and can make off balance throws with accuracy. On double plays, he has efficient footwork and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Ryan starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He gets the barrel flat to the ball and has a gap to gap approach. On the bump, Ryan shows confidence in his pitches and is aggressive in the zone. He finds a balance point over the back leg, separates on time, and gets extension over the front side. He sinks his fastball and has an 11-5 break on his curveball. Ryan is eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and plays with a lot of energy. Ryan has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
