07/23/2019 - College PREP - Rindge, NH Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has at the makings of a special type player at the next level. At 1B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Feet are active and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved his hitting / power potential from both sides. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 78 mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-68 mph with 11/5 shape with late, sharp break and shows as an outstanding pitch. Changeup sits from 70-73mph as he maintains arm speed but throws too hard resembling fastball. He does throw left handed as well with fastball topping out at 77 mph. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

12/28/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Ryan is a young 2-way player who can hit from both sides and pitch both righty and lefty. At 1st base, Ryan has good awareness around the bag, he has efficient footwork, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He has a clean exchange with some accuracy to his target. On the mound, Ryan shows best from the left side of the rubber. He has a loose arm action, he uses his lower body, and he has good glove side lead toward his target. When pitching right handed, Ryan has a clean arm action, a repeatable delivery, and he is around the plate with all his pitches. Offensively, Ryan is equally as good from both sides. From the left he loads well, has good bat speed, and he stands in well balanced. From right, Ryan has good bat speed, he keeps a still head, and he swings aggressively. Ryan shows nice promise in his abilities and can improve with work on the following.

07/18/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Ryan is a (2022 grad) 2-way player as a 1B/LHP. At 1B, he shows athletic actions and works into a square fielding position. He moves well around the bag and adjusts his feet well. With the bat, this switch hitter has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He connects and engages his lower 1/2. On the mound, Ryan showed both as a LHP & RHP. He keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. FB shows slight cut topping out at 61 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with loose action. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
