Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ryan is a 5'11/160 lbs OF/RHP that flashed some of his best tools and measurables to date at his most recent Baseball Factory outing. In the OF, he worked with ease to make plays with a sure glove and fluid footwork. He had a good arm stroke to throw and his ball carried very well to the target as he got behind and played through with good body momentum. Offensively, he had quick hands and delivered the barrel on a level path to contact. He whipped the barrel through the zone with looseness and gathered a pair of singles, a double, and three walks in his 8 plate appearances. On the mound, he threw a FB with run, spun an 11/5 CB, and showed a CH with tail. He gathered over the rubber to balance and separated on-time to give way to his delivery. All in all - Ryan is a strong 2018 athlete that ran a 6.8 sixty, while also displaying top tools in the OF.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Ryan is an athletic two way player that showcased in the OF and on the mound. In the OF he has a quick first step, showed proper footwork with his approach, and he covered a lot of ground tracking the ball well. He made accurate throws with good carry and he showed a fluid/clean arm action. At the plate he has an open stance, smooth load, and excellent balance. He uses his lower half well and consistently drove balls in the gap showing good power. On the mound, Ryan pounds the zone with an explosive fastball. He has good deception that causes him to be a tough at bat for hitters. His curve has an 11/5 shape with good bite late in the zone. Ryan should be a solid option at the next level in the OF or on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
