03/10/2024 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY Ryan continues to show a promising future with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 2B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he is aggressive through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

07/06/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Ryan is a 2028 2B/RHP out of Boonton, NJ who showcased his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition at Cape Cod. Ryan is a fierce competitor and plays with good energy. At 2B he shows athletic actions and creates good fielding angles. He works from right to left and fields from an athletic fielding position with a low funnel. He creates momentum towards his target, with ability to throw from multiple arm slots, and recorded an arm velocity up to 61mph. On the mound he has a confident demeanor and is poised on the mound. Has repeatable delivery with a clean arm stroke. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 56mph with arm side run, an 10/4 shaped breaking ball, a slider the throws from the same window as CB, and a developing changeup. In an inning of work, Ryan didn't allow a hit and induced soft contact. At the plate he hits from an athletic and open stance with loose hands. Shows good rhythm to swing with activated hands and has good bat to ball skills. In live game action he reached base 2 times with a double, a walk, and had 1 RBI. He has good fundamentals and should improve his skillsets with continued development. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
