07/13/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Carrollton (DFW), TX Ryan continues to show well on the diamond. At the plate, this switch-hitter currently shows more naturally from the left-side. He works back into a loaded position with good bat leverage and waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he connects and hits hard line-drives. Foot speed has improved as he now runs his 60 in 7.28. At SS, Ryan has smooth actions with good lateral movement. He gathers well and works in-line toward 1B. Ryan is a well-rounded athlete who will find success on the diamond.

12/07/2014 - National Tryout - Grand Prairie (DFW), TX Ryan showed as a C/SS in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. In the infield, he gained ground to go get the ball and made plays with decent hand position. Widening his base and bending more at the knees is his next step to becoming a more consistent fielder. Behind the dish, he worked with his hands in front and gained ground to throw. His exchange was clean, but he could add arm strength to help lower his pop times. In the box, he let the ball travel from both sides of the plate and hit off a stiff front side. Implementing more of a load and getting more extension with his top hand (from both sides) will increase hard line-drive contact. All in all - Ryan is a young ball player that has time to add strength to his fundamentally sound ability.

07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Ryan is an athletic shortstop and outfielder. At shortstop, Ryan has firm hands, active footwork, and fields from an athletic position. Was consistent during the games and made all routine plays at short. In the outfield he showed he has playable range with an accurate arm on all his throws. Would like to see him be more aggressive in the outfield and show the same mentality that he has in the infield. At the plate, Ryan has a good set up with centered balance. He has a level swing and sprays the ball to all fields. He is a very coachable player who competes and will only get better with more instruction.

07/15/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Ryan is a thin, average sized, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Ryan has firm hands, active feet, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He picks out the right hop, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a long arm action to his target. In the OF, Ryan takes good angles to the ball, he fields aggressively, and he has a loose arm action to his target. Offensively, Ryan has a square set-up, good balance, and direct hands to the ball. He has a line drive swing and some late explosion off the bat. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Exchange
2. Soften glove
3. Long toss
Outfield
1. Crow hop
2. Avoid slinging ball
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Don't wrap bat
3. More lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
